Houston, We Have a Hero!

When Hurricane Beryl barreled into Houston on July 8th, our team at Velociti didn’t back down. This wasn’t just another storm; it was a Category 1 hurricane with winds whipping at 75-85 mph, threatening our client’s critical lab operations in The Woodlands.

Facing the Storm Head-On

Anthony and Michael

Chief Engineer Anthony Williams, demonstrating incredible dedication, drove through the eye of the hurricane to reach the ARE Houston site, a 24/7 lab and biotech facility. With power knocked out across the region, Anthony worked tirelessly alongside the ARE Asset Manager to ensure the emergency power systems kicked in. Their efforts kept the 1,300-ton central utility plant and all critical lab equipment online for three continuous days.

This was no small feat. Anthony, along with Michael (another incredible Velociti team member), provided around-the-clock oversight of the generators, ensuring uninterrupted lab operations. And they did all this while facing personal challenges at home, with limited power, food, and water. Their commitment to our client’s needs, even in the face of personal hardship, is a testament to Velociti’s dedication.

Going the Extra Mile (Literally!)

Felipe and Robert

As the situation in Houston grew more challenging, the Velociti team spirit shone through. Felipe Barrientes, our Chief Engineer in Austin, where conditions were less severe, answered the call to action. He and Robert Castro, his #2 Engineer, immediately gathered emergency supplies – food, water, gas, and more – and embarked on an 8-hour roundtrip drive to The Woodlands. They navigated through pitch-black darkness, dodging fallen trees and debris, to deliver these essential supplies to their fellow team members and the client.

The Velociti Difference

This is what sets Velociti apart. We’re not just about facility management; we’re about people. Our team members go above and beyond, demonstrating unwavering commitment to our clients and each other, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Hurricane Beryl may have disrupted Houston, but it couldn’t shake the spirit of the Velociti team. We’re proud of our team members’ extraordinary efforts, showcasing the true meaning of dedication, resilience, and teamwork.
